Latest News from Proudly Human

Updates on protecting human authorship, creator choice and trust in a world of fast-growing AI content.

Dear Fellow Human,

At Proudly Human, we believe that human beings have a fundamental right to choose between works created by humans versus those generated by AI.

Earlier this month I spoke about these issues at the Woodend Winter Arts Festival and the pressing need we are addressing at Proudly Human to protect human authenticity. Next month I’ll be at the Edinburgh International Book Festival to take part in what I’m sure will be a spirited debate with Steve Crossan of Google’s DeepMind AI. These are the conversations we need to be having, and now.

Best,

Alan Finkel

Creator Spotlight - Peter Lewis

Peter Lewis is a columnist for The Guardian, host of the Burning Platforms podcast (also a Proudly Human certified podcast!) and a partner at Essential Media.

He was also the world’s first columnist to have his commitment to human-created content certified.

What we are talking about here is “provenance”, a guarantee it is me who is communicating with you through these words. I’m delighted to become their first Proudly Human” columnist

Our certification model is designed to provide clarity, by giving consumers the power of choice, and authors the recognition they deserve for their creativity.

AI needs guardrails

We are endlessly curious how AI can integrate into a safe and dignified human society. Our Founder, Dr Alan Finkel has developed the Three Laws Of AI as a proposed framework designed to start conversations about transparency, responsibility and the protection of human choice and creator-ship.

Three Laws of AI

Setting clear standards for AI use

We are currently living in a time when creators have access to more digital tools than ever before. While digital tools can be useful, it’s becoming more difficult to know where to draw the line between assistance and authorship.

That’s where de minimis comes in.

Being Proudly Human doesn’t mean avoiding every use of AI. Because AI tools are used differently across creative industries, our website includes detailed explanations of our de minimis guidelines, providing clear, industry-specific guidance on what forms of AI assistance are compatible with certification and where the boundaries of human authorship are drawn.

If you’re a creator, we encourage you to explore the guidelines and see how they apply to your own creative process.

New: Proudly Human for Job Seekers

It’s no surprise that recruiters are experiencing large volumes of AI-generated cover letters and resumes, making it increasingly difficult to identify applicants’ genuine skills, experience and abilities.
Now, job-hunters can certify that their resumes and cover letters are genuinely human-written with the launch of Proudly Human: Job Seeker.

Successful applicants receive various resources that we provide, which can be shared with potential employers to demonstrate authenticity.

Former Chief Scientist, and Proudly Human Founder, Dr Alan Finkel warns how human creativity is facing growing pressure from unregulated AI, weak policy responses, and AI-generated books, art, and music being passed off as human-made.

In his recent speech at the Woodend Winter Arts Festival, he outlines a roadmap for action, and plan to defend our right to choose human-created work.
